Island Within - This program invites the audience on a journey across centuries and cultures. We begin with the brilliance of Jean-Philippe Rameau, whose Baroque dances capture the elegance, imagination, and fascination with nature and distant lands of eighteenth-century France. The voyage continues with Felix Mendelssohn’s Die Hebriden, a Romantic seascape inspired by the rugged Scottish coast and the endless dialogue between ocean and sky. The concert then turns toward Taiwan, presenting beloved songs that embody both folk roots and modern sentiment. Together these works weave a tapestry of nature, memory, and homeland, celebrating the universal voice of music.

Meet the Dokwerk Saxophone Quartet — “an outstanding young ensemble worth following,” praised by Dutch violinist Maria Milstein. Lisa, Jen-Hong, Ileana, and Pedro blend their diverse backgrounds into a fresh, bold take on classical music. They were the students from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under the guidance of Dutch saxophone legend Arno Bornkamp.

They’re not just playing — they’re redefining what classical saxophone can be. Come see where it takes you.
