ATM String Quintet presents Echoes of Formosa — a program of contemporary string works by composer Lee, Che-Yi, inspired by the rich and diverse cultural landscape of Taiwan. The featured works — Dancing Strings I, Puppet Theatre Caprice, Makatoo Rhapsody, and The Temple Square — capture the spirit of Taiwanese tradition through a modern musical lens.

From the swirling motion of folk dance to the intricate artistry of glove puppetry, from indigenous rhythms to the vibrant pulse of temple festivals, each piece offers a distinct reflection of Taiwan’s heritage. Through their expressive performance, ATM String Quintet channels these cultural echoes, inviting the audience into a sonic journey across the island once known as Formosa.

ATM String Quintet unites five emerging musicians — violinists Paul Medeiros and Dmitri Ivanov, violist Shih-Hsien Tsai, cellist ShengChiun Lin, and double bassist Daniel Carias. Hailing from Taiwan, Canada, Portugal, and the Netherlands, they bring together a rich tapestry of cultural roots, woven into a shared musical journey on Dutch soil.

With years of collaboration behind them, the five members bring a strong sense of ensemble and deep musical rapport. Each is an accomplished chamber musician, active in renowned concert halls and festivals across Europe. More than just a performing group, ATM String Quintet is a collective that tells stories and bridges cultures through sound.
