Black in Material
Reimagining Ink, Redefining Boundaries
Founded in 2018 by artist Yu-Tzu Huang, Black in Material is an organization dedicated to the exploration and innovation of contemporary ink art. Embracing a broad and inclusive approach, it moves beyond the boundaries of traditional media to encourage creativity and experimentation within the field. Through exhibitions, workshops, and various collaborative projects, the organization seeks to deepen global appreciation and understanding of contemporary ink practices. Most recently, in May 2024, Black in Material presented live improvisational calligraphy and interactive public workshops as part of Analogue Forest at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum’s X-site program.
